Many
people use tobacco without even thinking about it. This
activity is to help you become aware of your tobacco
use habit. Awareness of when, where, and why you use
can make it easier to quit, because you can gear up
for or avoid situations that might trigger you
to use tobacco.

Find
a small, pocket-sized notebook.
|
| |
Each
time you want a chew or cigarette, take out your notebook
and write a few thoughts down.
- what time is it?
- what mood are you in?
- who are you with?
- where are you?
- do you really need the chew or cigarette?
|
| |
Write
in your journal each time you use tobacco, for up to
three days.
|
| |
After
you have 10 journal entries or more, review what you've
written. Are there any patterns or trends to your tobacco
use.
- what time of the day do you usually use tobacco?
- who are you with?
- where are you?
- what mood are you in?
