Utah Tobacco Prevention Educational Resources
The majority (90%) of adult smokers began smoking at or before the age of 18. Research shows that people who don't start smoking before the age of 18 are unlikely to start. The Utah Department of Health has a wide variety of educational materials available that can be used in conjunction with efforts to prevent youth from initiating tobacco use.

Promising results have been seen in comprehensive "Guidelines for School Health Programs to Prevent Tobacco Use and Addiction."

Tobacco-Free Fun Sheets K-6
These grade-specific Tobacco-Free Sheets contain 4 full size page activities. Based on State Office of Education Core Curriculum Objectives, the activity sheets are designed to be used in classrooms to supplement lessons on tobacco prevention. Topics encompass health effects and environmental tobacco smoke.
The sheets are downloadable and you may make as many copies as needed for educational use. To view the fun sheets you will need Acrobat Reader, click link to download.
Tobacco-Free Bookmarks K-6
Five different bookmarks are available with a positive graphic on 1 side and a related message on the other. Space is available for the student to fill in their own reasons for not smoking. The bookmarks include topics on environmental tobacco smoke, smoke-free cars, smoke-free homes, and health effects. Download bookmark template.
