| How
to Deal With Slips |
Often,
you can prevent slips by planning ahead. You can:
Write
a list of people, places, things and situations that may
cause you to slip.
For
each cause, list two new ways you will prevent yourself
from slipping.
If
you slip, don't give up - - try a new way to deal with
the cause of your slip.
Give
yourself credit for wanting to quit. Don't focus on the
slips.
Seek
help from family, friends, co-workers, and professional
organizations.
Look
at slips as an opportunity to change the response to your
addiction.
Rewards
include: self control, self-esteem, the knowledge that
you accomplished something not everyone else would be
able to, and many health benefits.
